Musical Planetarium: Sounds of Space

V–A–C Sreda online magazine continues its three-month programme devoted to space and its reflection in the culture, art, and utopian dreams of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

In this episode, we talk about the impact of space on musical and sound culture. How are raves and techno related to space exploration? What do foley artists do and what place does cinema occupy in the development of space music?

V–A–C Sreda editor Maxim Shibaev discussed these and other questions with Konstantin Dudakov-Kashuro, a curator, associate professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, and senior researcher at The State institute for Art Studies; Maria Afanasyeva, a musician, sound producer, and author of the musical project Petite Météorite; and Evgeny Bylina, a cultural theorist, musician, and curator of sound art projects.
